Integrated Technologies Ltd – Manufacturing Business of the Year and Science & Technology Business of the Year, Winner 2014
Interview with Tom Cole, CEO
Tell me how you and your company felt when you were nominated for a KEiBA award?
What was great for us, Integrated Technologies were the only company to win two awards on that evening. We won both the ‘Best Manufacturing Business’ award and we also won ‘Science and Technology” which was absolutely outstanding.
What’s been the best thing so far about winning a KEiBA award?
The best of all, winning new contacts and KEiBA awards, is to help secure our long term business and the future of our staff. It’s always important to celebrate success and these days we don’t do enough of that, so to be recognised by independent judges for our hard work and our success at ITL has been fantastic.
Has winning the KEiBA 14 changed anything about yourself or the company?
What it’s really done, it’s put ITL on the map in Kent, we are a well recognised business worldwide for medical devices, but we’re not that well known in Kent, so to put us on the map has been fantastic. More recently we had a visit from Vince Cable the Business and Innovation Secretary, which is all on the back of KEiBA basically.
I’m guessing therefore you’d recommend KEiBA to other companies?
Absolutely, we would like to see this to inspire other companies to take our lead and to follow our lead. We have 100 staff based in Ashford Kent and we’ve become the jewel in the crown for Kent businesses. We are saving lives by designing and manufacturing medical devices to diagnose cancer and KEiBA has inspired us to forge stronger links with universities and local schools to promote science and technology, we are a great believer in apprenticeships.
What is it specifically that you like about the KEiBA award ceremony?
It’s a fantastic evening; it’s extremely well organised and so professional. I’ve attended lots of awards but I can say that KEiBA is one of the best. It’s good for business; it’s great to boost staff morale. My staff have worked extremely hard this year and to be recognised as the best manufacturing business by an independent judge, judges, was extremely rewarding. We have two KEiBA trophies that are in pride of place in our reception area. These awards have given us widespread respect from our customers and I would recommend other Kent companies to follow our lead. KEiBA has helped ITL keep one step ahead of our competitors and we will continue manufacturing world class products for many years to come.
